European Certified Compostable Stock
If you are looking for a great alternative to plastic stickers, this PLA/biopolymer is the best alternative.
This stock is oil resistant and works well in wet and cold conditions. It is coated and therefore will not absorb oils, liquids or easily rip. The stock is European Certified Compostable (DIN EN 13432 & ASTM 6400) and is made from annually renewable resources (primarily corn) grown in the US.
Peel it off the roll, machine apply or use it with your thermal transfer printer. Perfect for admission stickers, food and freezer packaging, bakery labels, compostable to-go containers labels, and so much more.

True Story:
Vancouver Aquarium (part of the OceanWise Initiative) was looking for an alternative to plastic bracelets since they were moving away from single-use plastic. The bracelets were needed for children visiting the museum as a preventive aid, should the children become separated from their family. And thus Plan It Green Printing created the wristband bracelet with European Certified Compostable Stock, made primarily from cornstalks grown and manufactured in the USA.
Stock
EarthFirst PLA® is made of annually renewable resources grown in the US, primarily corn. PLA uses less energy to produce than petrochemical based plastics. European Certified Compostable ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 for Industrial Composting. The stock is available in clear and we’ll lay down a layer of white ink for white labels.
Adhesive
This adhesive is durable and well suited for freezer applications and most wet conditions. It is a water-based emulsion acrylic. It is not certified compostable. It is FDA 21CFR for indirect food contact, child toy safety act and CONEG Regulations and it’s latex-free.
Additionally we also offer a certified compostable adhesive for this stock: Fasson S9500 is specifically suited for those kinds of applications where the complete packaging should be biodegradable, and where indirect or direct food contact with dry foodstuff is required (i.e., fruit and vegetable labeling). S9500 is compliant with the European food regulation 1935/2004/EC for direct food contact with dry, non-fatty food. It also complies with DIN EN 13432 biodegradability and compostability regulation, and is OK compost-certified under the tracking number S259. Also good for wet/cold packaging.
Ink
We print on award winning, energy saving HP Indigo digital printers. We use HP Toner inks certified by TUV Austria for compostable labels.
EN 13432, 94/62/EEC and ASTM 6400
Look & Feel
The stock is shiny with a semi-matte/satin look. It’s thin and light-weight but don’t be fooled! This stock is strong and does not rip easily like a paper label. To protect your label art, we add a water-based matte top coat. The clear stock comes with a clear or matte/frosted top coat. The white stock is slightly translucent.
What most printers don’t tell you
The stock is durable but the printing on top is not scratch-resistant and therefore not typically suited for high frequented surfaces like cell phone covers, drinking flasks or where the labels will be constantly rubbed or scratched. It’s important to test these on your packaging to make sure they work properly. The stock is made to compost under high heat. It is a great label for wet, freezer and normal conditions. However, if it’s on a metal bumper with the sun shining and a temperature in excess of 115 degrees Fahrenheit, the label will shrink.
