National Wildlife Federation & The Monarch Butterfly
The National Wildlife Federation encourages Mayors across the U.S., Mexico and Canada (the migration route of the Monarch) to sign a pledge to support the Monarch butterfly, whose numbers have declined by over 90 percent in recent years.
In Los Angeles, we are working with a number of partners to collect postcards, written by children, asking Mayor Eric Garcetti to sign the pledge, which would commit the city to implementing safeguards for the butterfly, such as encouraging residents to plant milkweed, the host plant of the Monarch caterpillar, or protecting habitat that the butterfly flies through on its migration route.
Take the Pledge!
