Kamala Harris On Climate Change
Today, a short while ago, the new Senator from California and a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, was picked by Joe Biden as his running mate in the 2020 democratic election. Let’s take a look where she stands on issues around the environment and climate change. What can we expect? We look at her environment record. What has Kamala Harris done to help the environment?
Harris has opposed Trump on many issues around the environment, especially on rollbacks regulations for offshore drilling in California. She was against Trump when he rolled back automotive fuel efficiency standards earlier this year. She seams to understand that “Bold” rapid climate change policies need to be put in place to turn that ship around. She has sued the fossil fuel industry in the past, together with 5 other Senators and pledged to never accept fossil fuel money during a campaign. Let’s see how that will play out as the VP candidate and if she has Biden’s ear on that issue.
She supports THE GREEN NEW DEAL and the young people in the Congress pushing aggressive environmental proposals, like AOC. Harris plans to have the USA 100% carbon free by 2030 and is for a climate pollution fee.
“Climate change is an existential threat, and confronting it requires bold action.”
Overall, she understands that the issue of climate chance is one of the most pressing issues we have to work on today, apart from COVID19. Politics is funny, because things can change in an instance.
We are especially happy that Biden picked a woman. A woman of color. It is about time, people!
